Camping is one of the most memorable experiences in scouting and a great opportunity to experience the outdoors. The Troop generally camps or has an outdoor outing once each month.
What to Bring Camping?
Since we camp as a group, you don't have to bring as many things as you would on your own. So if you're new to camping, don't worry!
Every scout needs to bring several basic items:
Tent
Sleeping Bags, pads/air mattress, pillows
Headlamps/Flashlights/Lanterns (battery powered)
Camp chairs (recommended)
Personal clothing and toiletries (be sure to check the weather)
For additional items that you may want to bring, check out the REI Camping Checklist. You won't need to bring everything on the list, to be sure, but if you have additional items like camp stoves, dutch ovens, cookware, etc. please let us know! We depend on various families to help pool the resources we need to make the campout a success.
Where do we go camping?
We typically camp in state or county-owned parks within 1-2 hours of Silver Spring.
